Simulation-based medical training gets major boost as SimuVerse 2026 begins at BFUHS
Faridkot, July 5, 2026: Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot, on Sunday inaugurated SimuVerse 2026, a three-day national conference on simulation-based medical education and advanced surgical skills, aimed at enhancing the practical expertise of doctors, postgraduate students, nursing professionals and allied healthcare personnel to improve patient safety and healthcare delivery.
The conference was inaugurated by Punjab Cabinet Ministers Aman Arora and Dr. Baljeet Kaur in the presence of Gurdit Singh Sekhon, Prof. (Dr.) Rajeev Sood, Vice Chancellor of BFUHS, senior university officials, faculty members and leading medical experts from across the country.
During the inaugural ceremony, the dignitaries dedicated several state-of-the-art facilities, including the Geriatric Care Provider Lab, Emergency Medical Technician Lab, Advanced Surgical Simulation Centre, Multidisciplinary Advanced Surgical Anatomy & Imaging Lab, and the upgraded Ophthalmology Diagnostic and Laser Treatment Lab. These facilities will provide healthcare professionals with advanced hands-on training in a risk-free simulated environment before treating patients.
Welcoming the participants, Prof. (Dr.) Rajeev Sood said SimuVerse 2026 marks a major step towards establishing Punjab as a hub for simulation-based medical education. He said the conference features practical training in laparoscopic and robotic surgery, endo-urology, reproductive medicine, arthroscopy, interventional cardiology, neurosurgery, ultrasound-guided procedures and other minimally invasive techniques.
Addressing the gathering, Aman Arora lauded BFUHS for emerging as a centre of excellence in healthcare education, stating that modern medicine requires both knowledge and practical skills.
Dr. Baljeet Kaur praised the University's rapid progress in upgrading infrastructure and adopting advanced technologies, while Gurdit Singh Sekhon appreciated its achievements in education, research and healthcare.
The conference has brought together renowned experts from premier medical institutions across India, who will conduct scientific sessions, workshops, live demonstrations and hands-on training over the next three days. Participants described SimuVerse 2026 as a landmark initiative that will significantly strengthen medical training and contribute to better healthcare services in Punjab and across the country.
