MC Election Results: AAP emerges winner in Hoshiarpur, Guru Har Sahai and Jalalabad; Akali Dal also registers gain

Chandigarh, July 5, 2026:The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) emerged as the biggest winner in the latest round of municipal elections in Punjab, registering a commanding performance in Jalalabad and taking a decisive lead in Hoshiarpur, while the Congress dominated the Guru Har Sahai Municipal Council elections.
Hoshiarpur: AAP Takes Command
In Hoshiarpur, results for 32 of the 50 municipal wards have been declared, with the ruling AAP securing 24 seats, putting the party in a strong position to control the Municipal Corporation.
The remaining results are awaited.
Jalalabad: AAP Secures Clear Majority
In the 17-member Jalalabad Municipal Council, AAP won 12 wards, comfortably securing a majority.
The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) won three seats, while the Congress bagged two. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) failed to win any seat.
Guru Har Sahai: Congress Registers Landslide Victory
In Guru Har Sahai, the Congress swept the civic polls by winning 13 of the 15 wards.
The Shiromani Akali Dal secured the remaining two seats, while both the AAP and the BJP failed to open their accounts.
