Barnala (Punjab), July 7, 2026: Sangrur Member of Parliament Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer on Tuesday dedicated three new dialysis machines to patients at the Civil Hospital in Barnala and reviewed the progress of the upcoming ₹16.50-crore Critical Care Unit (CCU).
The three dialysis machines, procured at a cost of around ₹22.5 lakh from the MPLADS fund, have been installed to strengthen dialysis services at the hospital.
Speaking on the occasion, Meet Hayer said only three of the hospital's six dialysis machines were functional, while the remaining had become defunct, causing inconvenience and long waiting times for patients. The new machines, he said, will help ensure timely treatment and improve healthcare services.
He said the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is committed to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and providing quality medical facilities across the state.
Dialysis patient Rajni Bala (34) and her husband Navdeep Goyal thanked the MP for the initiative, saying the additional machines would bring significant relief to patients who require regular dialysis.
Later, Meet Hayer inspected the construction of the 50-bed Critical Care Unit, being built at a cost of ₹16.50 crore. He said the project is expected to be completed by the end of this year and will substantially enhance the hospital's capacity to provide advanced care to critically ill patients.
The MP directed officials to ensure the project is completed within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining high construction standards.
Deputy Commissioner Harpreet Singh (IAS), Mayor Hasan Bhardwaj, Halka In-charge Harinder Dhaliwal, Improvement Trust Chairman Ram Tirath Manna, Civil Surgeon Dr Haripal Singh, SMO Dr Indu Bansal, and other officials were present on the occasion.
