New Delhi, July 7, 2026: Senior Congress leader Pargat Singh on Tuesday said the party would overcome its internal differences soon, asserting that larger issues concerning Punjab should take precedence over individual disagreements.
Reacting to the appointment of Raja Warring by the Congress high command, Pargat Singh said the party's decision must be respected.
"The high command has appointed Raja Warring as the president, and we have to accept that decision," he said.
Pargat Singh also clarified that Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel had not yet called him for any meeting regarding the ongoing developments in the Punjab Congress.
Expressing confidence in the party's prospects, he said the internal differences would not affect the Congress's performance in the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections.
"The misunderstandings among us will be resolved soon. Punjab has many bigger issues than our internal differences," he said.
Asked whether he was satisfied with his current role in the party, Pargat Singh said he has never been driven by positions.
"It does not matter whether I am happy with my post or not. I have been entrusted with many responsibilities over the years. I do not focus on positions," he remarked.
Taking a swipe at rival political parties, the Congress leader alleged that opponents were trying to divert attention from real public issues by targeting the Congress.
"Other parties are attacking us to divert attention from the actual issues facing Punjab," Pargat Singh said.
