Rampura Phul (Bathinda), July 18, 2026: The Press Club (Regd.), Rampura Phul organised an environmental awareness seminar on the theme "If We Fail to Protect Earth, Trees, Air and Water, Our Future Will Perish", highlighting the urgent need to conserve natural resources and promote sustainable living.
The seminar, held under the leadership of Press Club President Rana Sharma and Chairman Kuljit Singh Dhingra, brought together public representatives, educationists, social workers and journalists to discuss environmental protection and the importance of increasing green cover.
MLA Balkar Singh Sidhu, who attended the event as the chief guest, said that earth, water, air and trees are invaluable gifts of nature and safeguarding them is the responsibility of every citizen. He warned that failure to protect the environment today would leave future generations to bear the consequences.
Calling for greater public participation, Sidhu urged people to plant more trees, conserve water and work collectively to reduce pollution.
Among the special guests were Bathinda Improvement Trust Chairman Jatinder Singh Bhalla, senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Sippy Bhakar, Fateh Group of Institutions Chairman S.S. Chatha, and Mata Sundri Group Chairman Kulwant Singh Sidhu.
The speakers stressed that environmental conservation is not the sole responsibility of the government but requires the active involvement of every section of society. Quoting the Sikh teaching, "Pavan Guru, Pani Pita, Mata Dharat Mahat," they underlined the importance of respecting and protecting nature.
The speakers also appealed to the media to use their platforms to spread awareness about environmental conservation and encourage people to adopt eco-friendly practices.
During the programme, several individuals were honoured for their outstanding contributions to social service, education and public welfare. The event concluded with participants taking a pledge to protect the environment, plant more trees, conserve every drop of water and work towards creating a greener Punjab for future generations.
