Students enjoy constructive learning during 'No-Bag Day' at VWS
Ferozepur, July 18, 2026: The students at Vivekananda World School (VWS), successfully organised its special "No-Bag Day" on Saturday, providing students with a unique learning experience beyond textbooks. The concept of "No-Bag Day" encourages students to leave their school bags at home and engage in experiential learning through sports, creative activities, life skills, and value-based education, making learning enjoyable, interactive, and stress-free.
The theme of this special Saturday was "Remove Plastic, Save Earth," through which students spread the message of environmental conservation and sustainable living while participating in a wide range of educational and co-curricular activities.
School Director Dr. S. N. Rudra said that "No-Bag Day" is organised on selected Saturdays to ensure the holistic development of students. He explained that the initiative aims to nurture creativity, leadership qualities, communication skills, discipline, teamwork, and a strong sense of social and environmental responsibility.
Students enthusiastically participated in various sports, including skating, shooting, martial arts, fencing, chess, basketball, volleyball, and cricket. They also showcased their talents in music, singing, instrumental performances, art and craft, and dance.
The school management expressed its commitment to continuing such innovative "No-Bag Day" initiatives in the future, enabling students to acquire knowledge, practical skills, and strong moral values while enjoying a balanced and meaningful educational experience.
The school's academic and activity clubs, including Mathlete, Academic Decathlon, English Weavers, Green Warriors, Heritage Club, and Nurture Health Club, organised engaging sessions that enhanced logical thinking, communication skills, health awareness, and environmental consciousness among the students.
As part of the environmental theme, students learned about the harmful effects of plastic pollution and pledged to minimise the use of single-use plastics, adopt eco-friendly alternatives, and contribute towards maintaining clean and green surroundings.
Dr. Rudra emphasised that education should extend beyond classroom learning and help students develop sensitivity towards nature, society, and human values. He said such experiential learning programmes build self-confidence, encourage creativity, strengthen critical thinking, and prepare students to become responsible citizens.
