Chandigarh lawyers clarify court work to resume only on Aug 3, protest to continue

Chandigarh, July 31, 2026: The District Bar Association (DBA), Chandigarh, has clarified that lawyers will resume court work only on Monday, August 3, while their ongoing agitation against the Legal Aid Defence Counsel (LADC) Policy will continue.
The decision follows a resolution passed by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Bar Associations of Punjab, Haryana and Union Territory Chandigarh on July 30.
In a notice issued to its members, the DBA stated that it would follow the decisions of the JAC regarding the ongoing agitation. Lawyers have been asked to resume court work on August 3 in accordance with the JAC’s resolution.
The association, however, clarified that the resumption of court work is limited to August 3 and does not indicate the withdrawal of the agitation. It said the association would continue to implement all further decisions taken by the Joint Action Committee
