No Congress leader raised ‘Go Back’ slogans against party in-charge: MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa

New Delhi, August 5, 2026: Gurdaspur MP and senior Congress leader Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa on Wednesday dismissed reports of internal discord within the Punjab Congress, asserting that neither he nor former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi required anyone’s certificate to establish their loyalty to the party.
Speaking to the media in Delhi, Randhawa said his family had been associated with the Congress for generations and had contributed to strengthening the party through years of dedicated service.
“My father became a minister in 1946, and our family has been associated with the Congress ever since. We have nurtured the party with our blood and sweat. We do not need anyone’s certificate. We are committed Congress workers, and Charanjit Singh Channi is also among them,” he said.
Responding to reports that ‘Go Back’ slogans were raised against the Punjab Congress in-charge during party programmes, Randhawa said no Congress leader had raised such slogans.
He said those raising the slogans could have been supporters or members of opposition parties and added that the matter should not be linked to internal differences within the Congress.
Commenting on slogans raised in support of former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi during a public meeting addressed by Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, Randhawa said Congress workers were only raising slogans in support of Congress leaders.
“Congress workers are raising slogans in favour of Congress leaders and not in support of leaders from any other political party,” he said.
Randhawa’s remarks come amid discussions over alleged differences among Punjab Congress leaders and the raising of slogans in support of Channi at party events.
