MP Rajinder Gupta condemns attack on Sukhbir Badal, wishes him speedy recovery

Chandigarh, August 14, 2026: Rajya Sabha MP Rajinder Gupta has strongly condemned the attack on Shiromani Akali Dal president and former Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal at Takht Sri Hazur Sahib in Nanded, Maharashtra, describing the incident as completely unacceptable.
Gupta said there is no place for violence in a democratic society and expressed concern over the attack. He also prayed for Badal’s speedy recovery and wished him good health.
Sukhbir Badal was injured in an alleged kirpan attack by a Nihang near Mata Sahib Gurdwara at Takht Sri Hazur Sahib on the outskirts of Nanded on Thursday. He was subsequently admitted to a private hospital and remained under medical observation for around 24 hours before being discharged.
The attack has drawn widespread condemnation, with political leaders across party lines denouncing the incident. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah also inquired about Badal’s health during phone conversations with his wife, Harsimrat Kaur Badal.
