Jagtar Singh Hawara’s Parole: 3-day demand, 10-day request or 2-day custody parole—What will the Govt decide?

Chandigarh, August 14, 2026: The matter has been in constant discussion after Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann met Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria regarding the parole of Jagtar Singh Hawara. But now another important piece of information is coming out regarding Hawara's parole.
Earlier, discussions were going on for one day's parole. After this, according to a report in 'The Tribune', it was revealed that a two-day custody parole was being offered. But Hawara is said to not accept this offer either.
However, Hawara's lawyers and their colleagues are now looking at the whole matter in a different light. They say that a custody parole of one or two days cannot really be called a normal parole. They are arguing that as per the rules, a parole of at least three days is required.
Along with this, Hawara has also demanded a long-term parole. It is being said that he is demanding a parole of about 10 days, while the government is offering to grant him a two-day parole under custody parole.
In this whole matter, another demand has now emerged that parole should be granted for at least three days.
A specific purpose is also being stated behind this three-day parole. Hawara's family and friends want that if he comes home, he can start the Akhand Path Sahib at home and after three days, he can join the conclusion of the Akhand Path Sahib and return to jail.
Therefore, the issue is no longer just whether Hawara gets parole or not. The real question has become how long the parole will be for and what its conditions will be.
On one hand, the government is offering custody parole, while on the other hand, Hawara's lawyers and associates are demanding at least three days of parole. Apart from this, a demand for 10 days of parole is also under discussion.
Now all eyes are on the next decision—will the government accept the demand for three days of parole? Will Hawara get a chance to meet his mother and attend the beginning and end of the Akhand Path Sahib at home? Or will the offer of two days of custody parole remain?
Meanwhile, the villagers are also waiting for Hawara to come to the village. The special thing is that it is being told that Jagtar Singh Hawara has not come to the house where his mother is currently living even once till date.
When Hawara was arrested, his family lived in another house located in the middle of the village. After this, this house was built outside the village. Now, if Hawara gets parole and reaches this house, then this will be his first visit to this house.
Meanwhile, his elder brother Lakhvir Singh is also ready to meet his brother. It is being told that as soon as he gets parole, he will come to Punjab from America and meet his brother.
So now, not only the family and the village, but everyone's eyes are on how many days of parole Jagtar Singh Hawara will finally receive.
Is a three-day parole request considered? Is there a decision on a 10-day request? Or is a two-day custodial parole the final offer?
For now, all these questions remain unanswered. But one thing is clear: everyone is waiting to see what the next decision will be by the government regarding Hawara's parole and when Jagtar Singh Hawara will reach the village to meet his mother.
