Goa DGP Discharged from Hospital After Fainting at Independence Day Event

Panaji/Chandigarh, August 15, 2026: Goa Director General of Police (DGP) Alok Kumar, who fainted near the stage during an Independence Day function in Panaji on Saturday, has been discharged from hospital and is doing well, according to Goa Police. (Instagram)
The incident occurred during the Independence Day parade attended by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, while awards were being distributed. Kumar reportedly began feeling uneasy, got down from the stage and drank some water before collapsing.
The Chief Minister’s Office said the DGP had fainted due to dehydration. He was subsequently taken to Manipal Hospital for medical evaluation.
Goa Police initially said Kumar’s vital parameters were normal and that he was kept under medical observation. He has since been discharged from the hospital, with the police stating that he is fit and doing well. (facebook.com)
