Punjab State Information Commission imposes fine of Rs. 5000 on PIO ADC Faridkot

Chandigarh, August 16, 2026: Punjab State Information Commission has imposed a fine of Rs. 5000 on Public Information Officer ADC (G) Faridkot which will be paid to litigant as compensation.
This order was issued on an appeal filed by Lajpat Rai Garg Advocate Bathinda. In his application LR Garg has alleged that he was not provided information under th Right to Information (RTI) Act 2005 by the PIO office of ADC (G) Faridkot deliberately and ADC Faridkot who is first Appellate authority has also violated the law by not providing him relief.
Hearing the matter Commission took cognizance of the repeated absence of the respondent in the case and ordered that LR Garg be provided with Rs. 5000 compensation by the respondent. Commission fixed next date of hearing on 9.12.26 and sought detailed reply from the respondent. Orders were passed by Dr. Bhupinder Singh Bath State Information Commissioner on 6.8.26.
