Nawanshahr (Punjab), August 29,2026: In a strong message for a drug-free and fitness-conscious India, Lamrin Tech Skills University Punjab celebrated National Sports Day by organising the ‘Khelo India Dialogue’, connecting students and youth with the inspiring interaction of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji with the young generation.
The live telecast of the interaction witnessed enthusiastic participation by students, who were motivated to make sports, physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle an integral part of their daily lives.
On the occasion, Coordinator Rattan Kaur said that the students took a pledge to stay away from every form of drug abuse and devote at least one hour every day to physical activity. She said the resolve reflected the commitment of the youth towards building a fit, healthy and drug-free India.
She emphasised that sports are not merely a means of maintaining physical fitness but also play a crucial role in developing discipline, confidence, teamwork, leadership and mental resilience among young people. She said that engaging youth in constructive sporting activities can help channelise their energy positively and keep them away from the menace of drugs.
Vice Chancellor Dr. A. S. Chawla appreciated the efforts of the University’s NSS volunteers in organising the programme and urged students to participate actively in sports and fitness activities. He said that a physically fit and mentally strong youth is the greatest asset of a progressive nation.
He further encouraged students to adopt fitness not as a one-day activity but as a lifelong habit, stressing the importance of discipline, determination and healthy choices in achieving personal and national goals.
The University reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment, promotion of sports and fitness, and creating awareness against drug abuse, while contributing meaningfully to the national vision of a Healthy, Strong and Viksit Bharat.
The programme concluded with the students taking a renewed pledge to remain physically active, shun drugs and contribute towards creating a healthier, stronger and more responsible India.
