Punjab BJP Backs Protesting Employees, Slams AAP Govt Over Show-Cause Notices: Kewal Singh Dhillon

Chandigarh, August 29, 2026: Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon on Saturday strongly criticised the state government’s decision to issue show-cause notices to employees who took collective leave in support of their demands, accusing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of adopting a “dictatorial mindset.”
Dhillon alleged that the government was attempting to hide its administrative and financial failures by targeting employees and restricting their right to raise their demands.
He said issuing show-cause notices to employees who had taken leave in accordance with rules to press for their legitimate demands was condemnable.
In a democracy, he said, the government should engage with employees and resolve their grievances through dialogue rather than resorting to notices and threats.
Dhillon also targeted AAP leaders, alleging that they had supported employees’ protests before coming to power but had changed their approach after forming the government in Punjab.
He said employees were the backbone of government functioning, contributing to administration, education, healthcare, governance and public services. The government’s alleged “arrogant and threatening” approach towards them, he said, was unacceptable.
Calling for dialogue, Dhillon urged the Punjab Government to abandon confrontation and immediately address the employees’ demands.
He further claimed that employees in Punjab were being denied legitimate dues while employees in the BJP-led Central Government and other states were receiving dearness allowance (DA) on time.
Questioning the government’s financial priorities, Dhillon asked why funds were allegedly unavailable for employees’ DA, arrears and other dues while crores of rupees were being spent on publicity campaigns and other expenditures.
“Punjab BJP stands firmly with employees in their fight for their rights,” Dhillon said, adding that the government should ensure that employees receive their DA, arrears and other legitimate dues on time.
Dhillon also appealed to government employees and pensioners to support the BJP in building what he described as an “employee-friendly and accountable” government in Punjab.
