Bomb threat email to Ferozepur schools triggers security alert; police conduct thorough checking, all clear
Ferozepur, September 24, 2026: A bomb threat email received by schools including Government Senior Secondary School (School of Eminence) for Girls and GSSS for Boys and private school St Farid School falling under Sadar police station area in Ferozepur triggered a security alert on Thursday, prompting police teams to immediately cordon off the school premises and conduct a thorough search.
School Principal said that an email was received on the school’s official email ID at around 10 am, threatening to blow up the school and referring to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Punjab. The email caused panic for some time, but the school authorities and police acted promptly to bring the situation under control.
Soon after receiving the information, police teams, including bomb disposal personnel and other specialised teams, reached the school and began checking the premises. The entire school was cordoned off and classrooms and other areas were physically searched as a precautionary measure.
DSP City Sukhwinder Singh said that bomb disposal teams and special police teams had been deployed and that a thorough security check of the school was being carried out.
SP Dalbir Singh said that on receiving the threat email concerning government senior secondary schools for boys and girls, the police immediately initiated checking of the schools and their surrounding areas. He said that thorough security checks were being conducted and all necessary precautionary measures were being taken to ensure the safety of students and staff. Police teams were also maintaining a close vigil in and around the school premises.
Officials said that all students were safe and had been moved to the school ground as a precautionary measure. The police appealed to the public not to panic, while stressing that the threat was being taken seriously.
Added here, the development comes against the backdrop of repeated bomb threats received through email by the Ferozepur District Court Complex. The court received its fifth such threat in around nine months on September 12, when a bomb threat was sent to its official email. Earlier, similar threats had been reported on January 8, April 6, August 12 and August 26.
On September 12, the District Court Complex was evacuated as a precaution and police, along with dog and bomb-disposal teams, conducted an extensive search. No suspicious object was found during the search, while technical teams worked to trace the source of the threatening email.
The latest threat to government schools has therefore added to concerns over the repeated use of threatening emails to create panic at public institutions in Ferozepur.
Police officials said that although several such threat emails received in the past had subsequently turned out to be hoaxes, no risk was being taken in the present case. The Cyber Cell is assisting in tracing the source and location of the email, and further action will be taken against the person responsible after verification.
