Amritsar (Punjab), October 7, 2026: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organised programmes across the country on Tuesday to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing 25 years as a head of government. A special programme was also held at the BJP district office, Shaheed Harbans Lal Khanna Memorial, in Amritsar.
BJP leaders and workers watched the live broadcast of Prime Minister Modi’s address during the programme. A march was also taken out from the district office to Hall Gate following the event.
Speaking to the media, BJP Rajya Sabha MP Satnam Singh Sandhu highlighted Modi’s 25-year political journey and the work undertaken during his leadership.
Sandhu said October 7 marked an important day in India’s history as Modi completed 25 years as a head of government. He recalled that Modi took charge as the Chief Minister of Gujarat on October 7, 2001, and has since continued to play a significant role in national politics.
The BJP MP said 25 years, or a quarter of a century, was a long period and claimed that Modi had made a significant contribution during this journey. He further claimed that under Modi’s leadership, India was progressing and had achieved new milestones in several sectors.
Commenting on Punjab’s political situation, Sandhu claimed that the state had “gone 10 years backwards” during the past five years.
He also expressed confidence that the BJP would form the government in Punjab in the future and said the party was prepared to work for the development of the state.
