Railways to run two festival special trains between New Delhi and Katra
Ferozepur, October 8, 2026: To clear the additional rush of passengers during the festive season and facilitate convenient travel, the Railways will operate reserved Festival Special trains between New Delhi and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra on October 9, 10, 16 and 17.
Train No. 04083/04084 New Delhi–Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra–New Delhi Reserved Festival Special will make two trips in each direction. Train No. 04083 will depart from New Delhi on Friday, October 9 and October 16, while Train No. 04084 will depart from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra on Saturday, October 10 and October 17.
The special train will have AC and Sleeper Class coaches. Train No. 04083 will depart from New Delhi at 2:00 pm and reach Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra at 3:00 am the next day.
On its return journey, Train No. 04084 will depart from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra at 10:00 am and reach New Delhi at 11:30 pm the same day.
The train will stop at Sonipat, Panipat Junction, Kurukshetra Junction, Ambala Cantt, Dhandari Kalan, Jalandhar Cantt, Pathankot Cantt, Martyr Captain Sunil Kumar Choudhary Kathua, Jammu Tawi and Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan stations in both directions.
Railway authorities said the special service has been planned to provide additional travel capacity during the festive rush and ensure greater convenience for passengers travelling towards the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine.
Passengers have been advised to check the latest train schedule, availability and operational updates through the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) or by dialling 139, said Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, Chief Public Relations Officer.
