ADC releases awareness banner for National Deworming Day campaign
Ferozepur, August 4, 2026: An important meeting to review preparations for National Deworming Day, to be observed on August 10, was held under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Dr. Amandeep Kaur here on Monday. Representatives and senior officials of the Health, Education, Women and Child Development and other concerned departments participated in the meeting.
A special awareness banner dedicated to the National Deworming Day campaign was also released by Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr. Amandeep Kaur along with health officials to motivate children and the general public to participate in the campaign.
During the meeting, District Family Welfare Officer Dr. Vivek Rajoura and School Health District Nodal Officer Dr. Harpreet Kaur briefed the participants about the significance of National Deworming Day and the preparations being made for its successful implementation.
They said that on August 10, doses of Albendazole would be administered to children in all government, semi-government and private schools as well as Anganwadi centres across the district to protect them from intestinal worms.
Dr. Amandeep Kaur directed all departments to work in close coordination to ensure that every child between the age group of 1 and 19 years is covered under the campaign. She stressed that deworming is essential for the physical and mental well-being of children and called upon all departments to work with dedication to make the campaign successful.
District Mass Media Officer Sanjeev Sharma, Deputy Mass Media Officers Ankush Bhandari and Neha Bhandari said that the Education and Women and Child Development departments would ensure that children have had breakfast before taking the Albendazole dose, as the medicine should not be taken on an empty stomach.
They added that children who, for any reason, could not receive the dose on August 10 would be administered the medicine on August 17, which will be observed as the mop-up day.
