Breaking: PPS Officer Lakhbir Singh reinstated

Amritsar (Punjab0, October 8, 2026: Punjab Police Service (PPS) officer Lakhbir Singh has been reinstated by the Punjab Government after remaining under suspension in connection with the alleged ₹52-crore Amritsar Improvement Trust scam.
Singh was serving as SSP, Vigilance, Amritsar, before his suspension in connection with the case. He was reinstated on Tuesday evening and has been directed to report at the office of the Director General of Police (DGP) on October 8.
Lakhbir Singh is also the officer who had led the police action resulting in the arrest of Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia.
Following his reinstatement, Singh is likely to be assigned a significant responsibility in the police department. However, no new posting or charge has been officially announced so far.
