Zirakpur: Four hold family hostage and looted cash & jewellery from house

Zirakpur, July 22, 2021:
Four unidentified persons entered inside a house in Sharma Enclave at Lohgarh here, held the family hostage for around two and half hours and decamped with cash and jewellery worth several lakhs.
The incident took place in broad daylight at around 11.30 am on Thursday in the absence of the owner of the house, Jaidev Goyal, who has retired from the post of DGM of Union Bank and is currently working as an Assistant Manager at Muthoot Finance in Sector 35, Chandigarh.
The police informed that the robbers came on two motorcycles and entered inside the house, where Jaidev’s wife Naresh Rani, son Kapil Goyal and maid were present. Firstly, one of them kept the maid of the house hostage and started searching for valuable items. They also disconnected the internet connection during the loot. After that the robbers tied Kapil and put a sword around his neck to threaten his mother. Threatened over this, the woman handed over all gold and silver jewellery to them. Then, they also tied her and fled the house by taking the valuable items and cash with them on their motorcycles.
On getting the information, a police team led by SP (Rural) Dr Ravjot Kaur Grewal, DSP Zirakpur Sub Division Amroz Singh, and SHO Zirakpur Police Station Inspector Onkar Singh Brar rushed to the site. The forensic team was also called to take the possible fingerprints of the accused.
Mohali SP (Rural) Dr Ravjot Kaur Grewal said that a manhunt has been launched to nab the accused with the help of the forensic team. She said the case is being investigated from various angles.
A case in this regard has been registered at the Zirakpur police station.
