Centre extends K. Rajaraman’s tenure as IFSCA Chairperson

New Delhi, July 31, 2026: The Central government has extended the tenure of K. Rajaraman as Chairperson of the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA), allowing him to continue leading the regulatory body beyond July 31, 2026.
According to a notification issued by the Department of Economic Affairs, Rajaraman will remain in the post until he attains the age of 65 in October 2028, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The extension is expected to ensure continuity in the leadership of IFSCA as it works to expand and strengthen India’s International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) at GIFT City in Gujarat.
A retired 1989-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre, Rajaraman assumed charge as the Chairperson of IFSCA on August 1, 2023.
Before taking up the role, he served as Secretary in the Department of Telecommunications. He has also held several senior positions in the Ministry of Finance, including Additional Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs and Joint Secretary in the Department of Expenditure.
