Chandigarh, April 10, 2026: Punjab Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora on Friday announced major relief measures for industries under the upcoming New Industrial Policy 2026, with a strong focus on strengthening the MSME sector and boosting infrastructure across the state.
Addressing a district-level MSME meeting in Patiala, the minister interacted with industrialists, heard their concerns, and resolved several issues on the spot. Dr. Balbir Singh was also present at the meeting.

Highlighting infrastructure development, Arora said that 2,120 kilometres of urban roads will be constructed by May-end at a cost of ₹1,300 crore. He also directed the Local Government Department to prioritise cleanliness and improve sewerage systems in cities, stressing that basic civic amenities must remain a top priority.
The minister further announced that a new Industrial Park Policy will be implemented within a month. Under this, large industrial parks of at least 25 acres will be developed with joint participation from entrepreneurs and real estate developers, offering streamlined approvals for investors.
Emphasising industrial growth, Arora said the New Industrial Policy 2026 will include emerging sectors such as film studios, hospitals, and hotels. He reiterated that MSMEs remain the backbone of Punjab’s economy and will receive special support under the new framework.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to farmers, he said adequate assistance will be provided in case of crop loss or natural calamities, and strict action will be taken against those selling fake seeds.
On the power front, Arora noted that the government has shifted towards a tender-based system for solar projects, which has yielded positive results.
He added that Punjab is rapidly emerging as a preferred destination for investment, with the government focusing on people-centric development through improvements in industry, infrastructure, and public services.
Several MLAs, senior officials, and representatives from various industrial sectors were present at the meeting.
