Chandigarh, July 7: Punjab’s cooperative dairy giant Verka (Milkfed Punjab) has achieved a record monthly turnover of ₹551 crore in June 2026, registering a 14.79 per cent year-on-year growth from ₹480 crore during the same month last year, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced on Tuesday.
The Chief Minister attributed the milestone to the Punjab Government’s sustained efforts to strengthen the cooperative dairy sector by increasing milk procurement, expanding processing capacity, and promoting value-added dairy products.
Highlighting the achievement, Mann said the ₹71-crore increase in turnover reflects the growing strength of Punjab’s cooperative dairy movement and the rising confidence of consumers in the Verka brand.
The Chief Minister said milk procurement also witnessed significant growth, increasing by nearly two lakh litres per day during June, representing an 11 per cent rise over the previous year. He noted that this growth is almost double the national average growth rate of 5 to 6 per cent, underscoring the rapid progress of Punjab’s dairy sector.
Mann said the government’s focus on strengthening the cooperative movement has helped improve the economic well-being of dairy farmers by expanding processing facilities, improving market access and ensuring better returns for milk producers.
He also highlighted the strong performance of Verka’s value-added dairy products during June. Table Butter recorded a 94 per cent growth, UHT Cream grew by 213 per cent, UHT Milk by 20 per cent, Ice Cream by 22 per cent, Tetra Pack Lassi by 30 per cent, Ghee by 41 per cent, and Dairy Whitener by 58 per cent.
According to the Chief Minister, the robust growth was driven by an improved product mix, stronger market execution and increasing consumer preference for Verka’s value-added products.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to the cooperative dairy sector, Mann said the Punjab Government will continue investing in milk procurement, modern processing infrastructure, cold-chain development, technology adoption, product innovation and market expansion.
Describing the cooperative dairy movement as a key driver of rural prosperity, employment generation and farmer empowerment, the Chief Minister congratulated the management of Milkfed, its employees, cooperative societies and lakhs of milk producers for achieving the milestone.
He said these continued investments would further strengthen Milkfed, enhance dairy farmers’ incomes, reinforce Verka’s leadership in the Indian dairy market and ensure consumers receive safe, nutritious and high-quality dairy products.
