MP Rajinder Gupta bows to abide by Modi's push for austerity including work from home, optimized travel planning and virtual meetings

Chandigarh, May 14, 2026: Rajinder Gupta, Chairman Emeritus of Trident Group and Rajya Sabha MP from the Bharatiya Janata Party, has welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent appeal encouraging citizens and organizations to adopt work-from-home, virtual meetings, carpooling, greater use of public transport, and reduced non-essential travel.
In a social media post, Rajinder Gupta described the Prime Minister’s guidance as “thoughtful, timely and deeply aligned with the spirit of collective national responsibility.”
He said that Trident Group is fully committed to this national call and is actively promoting greater adoption of virtual meetings, work from home wherever feasible, optimized travel planning, reduction in non-essential international and commercial travel, carpooling, and responsible mobility practices, particularly in metro cities.
Emphasizing the importance of collective action, Gupta wrote in Hindi: “छोटे-छोटे सामूहिक कदम ही राष्ट्र निर्माण में बड़ी भूमिका निभाते हैं” (Small collective steps play a significant role in nation-building).
He also thanked Prime Minister Modi for inspiring the country towards “sajag nagrikta” (responsible citizenship), disciplined action, and shared responsibility in the larger national interest.
Rajinder Gupta recently joined the BJP Rajya Sabha party.
