Rana Sodhi secures Amit Shah’s assurances of early start to PGI OPD in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, October 7, 2025: Former Minister Rana Sodhi met Home Minister Amit Shah today to discuss several key issues concerning Punjab. During the meeting, Amit Shah assured Rana Sodhi that the construction of the upcoming PGI Hospital in Ferozepur will be expedited and that the hospital’s outpatient department (OPD) will begin operations soon.
Rana Sodhi stated that the discussion also covered Punjab’s internal security situation and the safety of its people. He conveyed that Amit Shah is deeply aware of Punjab’s challenges and is committed to resolving them swiftly. The Home Minister reportedly assured that several new development projects for Punjab will be launched in the near future.
Highlighting Punjab’s unique status as a border state, Amit Shah noted its distinct issues require focused attention. Rana Sodhi also discussed cross-border activities, raising concerns about farmers cultivating land on the other side of the border. He requested that ownership rights of such lands be transferred to the local farmers.
In addition, Rana Sodhi urged the minister to expand the notified area of the Ferozepur Cantonment and to grant more ownership rights to civilians in adjoining regions. He also pressed for enhanced law and order measures in Punjab and requested the deployment of paramilitary forces, citing growing lawlessness that has made daily life unsafe for common people.
Sodhi further informed the Home Minister about the extensive damage caused by recent floods in Punjab, seeking a special survey to assess crop losses and compensation for farmers. He emphasised the need to complete and inaugurate the PGI Hospital in Ferozepur as soon as possible, to ensure residents have access to quality healthcare without travelling long distances.
