Himachal Breaking: 15 Dead in Bilaspur Bus Accident — Landslide Buries Bus, Several Still Trapped

Bilaspur / Kullu, October 7, 2025:
A tragic incident occurred in Himachal Pradesh’s Bilaspur district when a massive landslide struck a private bus traveling from Marotan to Ghumarwin. The incident took place near Bhallu Bridge, close to the Sukhar Khad in Barthin area around 6.30 pm on October 07, 2025.
The debris from the landslide fell directly on the bus, tearing off its roof and completely burying it under the rubble. Rescue operations are underway, but as of now, 15 bodies have been recovered from the bus.
Two young girls and one boy have been rescued alive, though one of the girls lost her mother in the tragedy. The injured children are being treated at the Barthin hospital.
According to reports, around 35 passengers were onboard the bus at the time of the accident, which occurred around 6:30 pm. Both the driver and conductor have reportedly died, while the identities of the deceased are yet to be confirmed.
Chief Minister expresses grief, orders swift rescue operations
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has expressed deep sorrow over the accident. He extended condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the peace of the departed souls.
The Chief Minister assured that the state government stands firmly with the affected families and that all possible assistance will be provided.
CM Sukhu is in constant touch with the Bilaspur district administration and has directed officials to accelerate rescue and relief operations. He has also instructed that the injured be given immediate medical care. The Chief Minister is monitoring the situation from Shimla.
