Bathinda, June 7, 2026:
A review meeting was held today in Bathinda under the ongoing "War Against Drugs" campaign, chaired by Inderjit Singh Mann who is Chairman of Punjab Markfed to assess the progress of anti-drug initiatives and strengthen efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society.
The meeting was attended by Village Defence Committee (VDC) members from the Bathinda Rural and Bhucho Mandi Assembly constituencies, along with officials from the police administration.
Addressing the gathering, Inderjit Singh Mann emphasized that the Punjab Government is firmly committed to eliminating drugs from the state and restoring Punjab's glory as a vibrant, prosperous, and progressive region.
He stated that the Mann Government's foremost objective is to completely eradicate the "sixth river" of drugs from Punjab and safeguard the future of the state's youth.
He highlighted that a coordinated approach involving government agencies, law enforcement authorities, village-level committees, and the general public is essential to achieving lasting success in the fight against drugs.
Mann urged VDC members to play an active role in creating awareness, identifying drug-related activities in their respective areas, and supporting the administration in its anti-drug drive.
During the meeting, participants reviewed the ongoing efforts being undertaken under the campaign and discussed measures to further strengthen intelligence-sharing and community participation.
VDC members shared feedback from their villages and localities, while police officials outlined the actions being taken against drug traffickers and individuals involved in the illegal narcotics trade.
The police administration assured complete support to the campaign and reaffirmed its commitment to taking strict action against those involved in drug trafficking.
Officials also encouraged citizens to report any information related to drugs and assured that such information would be handled confidentially.
Speaking on the occasion, Inderjit Singh Mann reiterated that the fight against drugs is not solely the responsibility of the government or the police but a collective mission that requires the participation of every citizen.
He called upon people, especially the youth, to join the movement and contribute towards building a healthier and drug-free Punjab.
The meeting concluded with a collective pledge by all participants to intensify the anti-drug campaign and work together to realize the vision of a drug-free Punjab.
