Chandigarh, June 27, 2026: Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring on Friday questioned the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab over the implementation of the Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission-Gramin (VB G RAMG) scheme, asking whether the move was part of a political understanding with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Addressing a press conference in Chandigarh, the Punjab Congress president pointed out that the state government had convened a Special Session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha on December 30, 2025, during which a unanimous resolution was passed rejecting the VB G RAMG scheme. However, he said, the government issued a notification on Thursday implementing the same scheme in Punjab.
“What is the deal with the BJP?” Warring asked, alleging that the government had contradicted its own Assembly resolution.
He said the timing of the notification was significant and raised questions about whether it was linked to the ongoing political controversy surrounding the Chief Minister.
“Having been cornered both within and outside his party, is the Chief Minister trying to buy peace with the BJP?”
Warring argued that there appeared to be no justification for implementing the scheme when the state legislature had unanimously opposed it.
The Congress leader also sought a clarification from Arvind Kejriwal, asking whether he supported Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s decision to implement the VB G RAMG scheme.
“Kejriwal must break his silence and clarify his position. Otherwise, it will become established that the AAP has struck an opportunistic deal with the BJP,”
Warring said.
The Punjab government has not yet issued an official response to the Congress leader’s allegations.
