Jagtar Singh Hawara’s Parole: Family meets CM Mann, seeks early approval for meeting with ailing mother

Chandigarh, August 29, 2026: Family members and supporters of Jagtar Singh Hawara met Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday to discuss the issue of his parole and sought early completion of the remaining formalities so that he could meet his ailing mother.
Hawara’s sister Pushpinder Kaur, Bhaji Harpreet Singh Rana and Bhai Jaswant Sidhu Pur met the Chief Minister and expressed gratitude for the steps reportedly taken by the Punjab Government in connection with the parole request.
During the meeting, the delegation raised the issue of Hawara’s parole and his proposed meeting with his ailing mother. They urged the Chief Minister to ensure that any pending formalities or deficiencies in the parole process were completed at the earliest, so that his mother could meet her son while she was still alive.
The delegation also discussed the law-and-order situation in connection with the proposed parole. The representatives assured the Chief Minister that every effort would be made to maintain peace and ensure that no untoward incident took place during the parole period.
They also stated that peace and law and order would be maintained in accordance with Hawara’s directions.
Following the meeting, Bhai Baldev Singh Wadala said in a social media statement that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann had assured the delegation that, keeping humanitarian and human-rights considerations in mind, the government would make every possible effort to facilitate the meeting between the mother and son.
Wadala also held discussions on the matter with Bhai Amanpreet Singh, Bhai Harbhinder Singh, Bhai Sarabjit Singh and Bhai Jaspreet Singh.
The parole issue is being primarily raised on humanitarian grounds, particularly in view of Hawara’s mother’s reported illness. His family has expressed hope that the remaining process will be completed and a decision taken soon.
