Real contest between Congress and AAP in 2027: Capt. Amarinder Singh

Chandigarh, September 25, 2026: Former Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Capt. Amarinder Singh has said that in 2027 Punjab Vidhan Sabha elections real contest is between Congress and AAP as BJP has not gained ground in the state.
In an interview with The Tribune, Capt. Amarinder Singh said that though he joined BJP but he gained nothing in last four years. He said that BJP has no substantial ground in the state. If it wants to come to power, it should forge and alliance with Akali Dal, its old partner.
When asked whether he will quit BJP, he said that he has not options. He can’t join Akali Dal and think Congress will not take him back so he is left with no option but to remain with BJP. He also said that congress was grappling with tussle over leadership.
