CPDL Enhances Power Reliability in Sector-31C with 1000 kVA Transformer Augmentation
Babushahi Network
Chandigarh, August 06, 2026: Chandigarh Power Distribution Limited (CPDL) has strengthened the power distribution network in Sector-31C by replacing an obsolete and overloaded 500 kVA Distribution Transformer with a new 1000 kVA Distribution Transformer at the Indoor Substation. The work has been completed at an approximate cost of Rs 27 lakh.
The substation supplies electricity to the Air Force Officers' residential area, Sector-31C Main Market, Police Station Sector-31, and nearby residential consumers.
The replaced transformer commissioned had become obsolete and was upgraded to improve system reliability and accommodate future load growth.
The project posed a significant engineering challenge due to the narrow entrance of the indoor substation, which made conventional installation impossible. The new transformer was carefully positioned with meticulous planning and coordination.
In addition to the transformer augmentation, CPDL replaced the existing old undersize HT cable with a higher rating HT cable, enhancing the safety, efficiency, and reliability of both the HT and LT systems.
The upgraded infrastructure will provide improved power reliability, increased system capacity, and reduced transformer-related interruptions for consumers in Sector-31C.
This project reflects CPDL's ongoing commitment to modernize Chandigarh's electricity distribution network through timely replacement of ageing assets and the development of future-ready power infrastructure.
