Cabinet minister Lal Chand Kataruchak hands over ₹4 lakh cheques to families of four flood victims

Pathankot, September 4, 2025:
The Punjab government, led by chief minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, stands firmly with families who lost loved ones in the recent floods, cabinet minister Lal Chand Kataruchak said while handing over financial assistance cheques of ₹4 lakh each to the next of kin of four deceased at the District Administrative Complex, Malikpur. He said the administration remains committed to extending all possible support to affected families.
Kataruchak noted that the floods have caused widespread destruction to crops and livestock and, tragically, claimed precious lives. He added that eight families in Pathankot district have lost their loved ones in the calamity, of which four received assistance today.
The minister said cheques were handed over to families of Jagtar (village Attewal), Sahil (Dhangu Saraan), and Keshav Kumar and Reshma (Rajpura). He added that Pathankot is the first district in the state to initiate this disbursal, and assistance for the remaining four bereaved families will be released soon.
Reiterating the government’s resolve to stand shoulder to shoulder with people in this hour of crisis, Kataruchak said timely relief and rehabilitation remain the top priority across flood-hit areas.
