New Delhi, June 7, 2026: Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon on Saturday met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi and discussed a range of issues concerning Punjab, including the state's law and order situation, drug trafficking, gangster activity and cross-border security challenges.
During the meeting, Dhillon apprised the Home Minister of what he described as the deteriorating security environment in Punjab and expressed concern over the growing menace of drugs and organised crime in the border state.
According to the BJP leader, discussions also focused on cross-border smuggling of narcotics and weapons, internal security issues and measures required to strengthen peace and stability in the state.

In a symbolic gesture highlighting Punjab's cultural and historical legacy, Dhillon presented Amit Shah with a portrait and a book on Maharaja Ranjit Singh, popularly known as Sher-e-Punjab. The gesture underscored the party's emphasis on Punjab's rich heritage and the legacy of the Sikh ruler who unified Punjab.
Speaking after the meeting, Dhillon thanked the Union Home Minister for giving him time and listening to concerns related to Punjab.
"Punjab is a strategically important border state. Drug trafficking is affecting our youth, gangsterism is growing and people are concerned about law and order. I apprised the Home Minister of the ground realities and sought continued support from the Central Government for the safety and security of Punjabis," he said.
Dhillon also said he was honoured to present the Home Minister with a book and portrait of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, describing the Sikh ruler as a symbol of Punjab's strength, pride and historic greatness.
The Punjab BJP chief alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party government has failed to effectively address several key challenges facing the state. He said the BJP would continue to highlight issues concerning public safety and work to ensure that Punjab's concerns receive attention at the national level.
