Pathankot (Punjab), August 1, 2026: The Punjab Government on Saturday transferred financial assistance to 35.5 lakh more women under the Maavan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna, taking the total number of beneficiaries covered under the scheme to 68.5 lakh.
Addressing a financial assistance distribution function in Pathankot, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said 33 lakh women had received the benefit earlier, while the latest transfer had extended financial assistance to another 35.5 lakh beneficiaries.
Under the current disbursement, women beneficiaries are receiving ₹3,000 as a combined instalment for July, August and September, while Scheduled Caste women are receiving ₹4,500 for the three-month period.
The Chief Minister said women receiving widow, disability and old-age pensions were also being provided the additional financial assistance under the scheme for the first time. He added that these benefits would continue separately from their existing social security pensions.
Mann said around five lakh more women had registered under the scheme during the past seven days, taking the total number of registrations to 73.5 lakh. Registrations are continuing across the state, and newly verified applicants will be included in subsequent disbursement rounds.
“The money has been transferred directly into the bank accounts of beneficiaries. This is the rightful entitlement of the mothers and sisters of Punjab, and they are free to use it according to their needs,” the Chief Minister said.
He added that women who register now would also receive the benefit from July 1, 2026, and said the government had earmarked ₹9,300 crore for the scheme in the state budget.
According to the government, the Maavan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna provides direct financial assistance of ₹1,000 per month to eligible women and ₹1,500 per month to eligible Scheduled Caste women through Direct Benefit Transfer.
Mann said the initiative was aimed at strengthening women’s financial independence, dignity and decision-making power within households. “The scheme may not make women rich, but it will provide them with dignity and self-respect,” he said.
Senior AAP leader and Punjab in-charge Manish Sisodia, Cabinet Ministers Aman Arora, Dr Baljit Kaur and Lal Chand Kataruchak, among others, were present at the function.
