Amritsar (Punjab), October 9, 2026: The Punjab Government will organise a mega Youth Run in Amritsar on October 11 as part of its ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ campaign to combat drug abuse and promote a sporting culture among young people.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab chief spokesperson and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal on Friday appealed to the youth and residents of Amritsar and surrounding areas to participate in the event in large numbers.
Addressing a press conference alongside AAP leader Gurpartap Singh Sandhu, Dhaliwal said similar marathon events held in Mohali, Bathinda and Jalandhar had received an encouraging response from the public.
The Amritsar run will begin at 6 AM from Ranjit Avenue. MLAs from Amritsar, senior party leaders and thousands of young participants are expected to join the event.
Dhaliwal said promoting sports and keeping Punjab’s youth away from drugs remained a priority for the Bhagwant Mann government. He cited the ongoing fourth season of ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Dian’ as an initiative aimed at identifying and nurturing sporting talent and helping Punjab’s athletes achieve success at the international level.
He also reiterated the state government’s zero-tolerance policy towards drugs, claiming that thousands of drug smugglers had been jailed and action had been taken against their illegal properties.
Appealing for public participation, Dhaliwal urged people to reach Ranjit Avenue on Sunday morning and join the campaign to build a drug-free Punjab.
He said the initiative aimed to encourage young people to embrace fitness and sports while contributing to the vision of a ‘Rangla Punjab’.
