Local authorities have launched an intensive search for multiple suspects after gunfire erupted, sending panicked crowds scrambling for safety.
CNN reported that Toledo Deputy Police Chief Joseph Heffernan, officers rushed to the scene at approximately 5:37 p.m. on Saturday (June 6) following multiple reports of gunfire near the historic Old West End Festival, an annual community event that draws large crowds.
Preliminary investigations indicate that at least two shooters were involved in the incident and may have been actively firing at one another before the situation spilled over, harming bystanders. The suspects fled the scene immediately after the shooting, and law enforcement agencies are currently pursuing active leads to track them down.
Medical officials confirmed that the victims of the shooting span a wide age group, ranging from 14 to 61 years old. While most of the injured are being treated for non-life-threatening wounds at local hospitals, two individuals sustained severe injuries and are reported to be in critical condition.
The Old West End Festival is celebrated annually for its community spirit, but the sudden violence turned the weekend festivities into a scene of terror.
