Farmers extend ‘Rail Roko’ agitation till October 5, burn effigies of Corporate houses
Ferozepur, October 1, 2020: The farmers today decided to continue their rail roko protest with sit-in dharna on tracks at Basti Tankan Wali in Ferozepur till October 5 against the recently enacted agriculture laws and expressed their resentment by burning the effigies of corporate houses – Ambani, Adani, Tatas, Batas – on the railway lines. The farmers also repeated their call to boycott the product of big corporate houses.
The railway authorities have already suspended train services in the state in view of the farmer stir.
Addressing the protesters, Satnam Singh Pannu, State President, Kissan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee, Punjab, Jasbir Singh Pidhi, Gurlal Singh Pandori, Ran Singh, Salwinder Singh Jania, Ranbir Singh Thatha and Mangal Singh Guddardandi, intensifying the agitation, announced to extend the protest till October 5.
Accusing the Akali Dal and Congress and agents of Corproate houses, they said, these parties should support in favour of farmers in Punjab and to torpedo the farmers protest, once again, dodging the people of Punjab. He added that Akali Dal had been advocating the Bills continuously for three months and now using his vote for political purposes by playing with farmers protests.
Farmer leaders said, likewise the privatization is the child brain of Congress party. Congress too has failed to oppose the ordinances and now Rahul Gandhi is making a road show from October 2 in Punjab. Capt Amarinder Singh led government has also not sent a resolution for cancellation of the Bills rather has consented by associating in the high power committee of 6 chief ministers.
