Farmers block national highways for 2 hrs, continue to protest against three Farm Bills on 16th day
Ferozepur, October 9, 2020: The farmers protest by31 outfits, demanding the withdrawal of three Farm Bills and lathi charge on peaceful protesters in Haryana started on September 24, continued for the 16th day. A two-hour from 12 noon to 2 pm, national highway on all routes was blocked and burned the effigies of PM and Sangh Chief.
The farmers protest from October 1 had been extended at 30 places in the state including few places of Ambala rail division effecting the supplies of essential commodities in Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir as well as in other parts of the country.
The railways had already canceled the trains to avoid inconvenience to the passengers. However, CM had made an appeal to allow to operate the goods trains to transport the essential commodities to other states. The farmer outfits had already rejected the Secretary-level meeting to resolve their concerns regarding the farm laws.
Addressing the media persons, Satnam Singh Pannu, State President, Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee said, in protest, we have today burned the effigy of PM and Sangh Chief Mohan Bhagwat and blocked the national highways for two hours. However, ambulance, the vehicle with emergency like pregnant women for going to the hospital, fire brigade and army vehicles were given the way.
Addressing the protesters on the railway track, he also made an appeal to the people to join the protest of the farmers on Sunday.
DRM said, As you all know, the farmers protest from October 1, the protests had extended sit-in dharna at 15 places in the division and in the whole of Punjab at 30 places including few places of Ambala Division, the train's operations have to be suspended which has affected the supplies of essential commodities in Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir as well.
