Temporary Truce: Ferozepur farmers clears railway track, protest to continue at Amritsar
Ferozepur, October 22, 2020: Announcing the decision to clear the railway track temporarily on 29th days’ protest, but continue at Amritsar, for running of goods trains, against three anti-friendly Farm Bills, the Kissan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee, which brought Punjab to halt in addition to Corona curbs, in Ferozepur lifted the dharna for the convenience of the public.
Before this temporary truce, the farmers protested accusing the state and centre government, by burning the effigies.
Speaking on this occasion, Satnam Singh Pannu, State President, KMSC said, the economy of Punjab is agriculture based and all classes have been affected with enactment of the three Farm Bills but termed a goodwill step now with the passing of four resolutions passed by the Punjab Vidha Sabha keeping intact the interests of all, to negate he Modi government’s anti-farmers agriculture sector laws and Punjab becoming the first state in the country to formally reject the Centre’s controversial farm laws.
He further said that keeping in view the shortage of coal, agriculture in-puts like DAP, Urea fertilizers etc., we have decided the lift the dharna from Basti Tankan Wali railway track temporarily but the dharna at Devidas Pura on Amritsar railway track would continue till October 29.
However, a core committee meeting will decide the further course of action to register the protest against the farm bills adding the effigies of PM and Corporate Houses will be burned on October 23 at Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Zira, Guruharsahai, Fazilka, Sultanpur Lodhi, Lohian Tanda, and Hoshiarpur and on October 25 – Dushera Day, in 800 villages of Punjab.
He invited all farmers to participate in this protest as a part of our ‘do or die battle’ with the centre government.
In the meantime, DRM Ferozepur thanked the farmers outfits for taking the decision to lift the dharna, from 26 spots out of 30, for running of goods trains, for the convenience of movement of essential commodities. The goods train traffic will resume after clearance of track fitting inspection, from the engineering section, he added.
