Railways back on tracks, 52 goods trains moved in Ferozepur rail divison
Ferozepur, October 23, 2020: On withdrawal of on-going agitation from the railway tracks by the farmers outfits in the State temporarily, continuing around month back, to enable the railways to run the goods trains for the convenience of public and to cope with the shortage of essential commodities in the country, on Thursday, the railway could run 52 goods trains in Ferozepur rail division.
The farmer outfits had withdrawn their protest from 26 spots out of the 30, to facilitate the goods trains on the tracks. However, the protest off the rail tracks throughout the state would continue till such time any settlement is finalized between the farmer and the government. In the meantime, the State government has passed the resolution to make provisions in the enacted three farm laws and presented to the Governor, who will further forward to the Prime Minister with his specific recommendations.
Divisional Rail Manager, Ferozepur Division, Rajesh Aggarwal said, the operation of goods trains have been restarted from October 22 and economy is returning on track.
He said, on October 23, as many as 52 goods trains have run on the tracks which include – 17 goods trains – one foodgrain rake, 10 container rakes, 1 gypsum, 1 vivid and 4 empty rakes of coal and iron loading sent out of the division. Besides, 35 rakes have been sent out of the divison – 3 for J&K POL and Punjab, 4 coal, 4 containers, 5 iron, 2 fertilizer, 3 cement and 14 empty jumbo rakes for loading of foodgrains have arrived in Ferozepur division. The operation of other goods trains is running as per the schedule, he added.
