Congress holds strategy meeting for Jagraon Municipal polls, Observer Pawan Dewan reviews ticket aspirants

Ludhiana (Punjab), May 10, 2026: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee-appointed observer for the Jagraon Municipal Council elections, Pawan Dewan, on Sunday held an extensive meeting with Congress workers, senior leaders and ticket aspirants in Jagraon ahead of the upcoming civic polls.
Dewan, who is also a senior Congress leader and former Chairman of the Punjab Large Industrial Development Board, described the meeting as “extremely fruitful and encouraging.”
Speaking after the meeting, he said detailed one-to-one interactions were held with all aspirants seeking party nominations for the municipal elections. According to him, each applicant was given an opportunity to present their views, organisational contribution, political background and assessment of the electoral situation in their respective wards.
“After thorough perusal and detailed deliberations, the list of probable candidates will be submitted to the party high command for final consideration,” Dewan said.
He added that the enthusiastic participation of party workers and ticket seekers reflected growing momentum within the Congress ahead of the municipal elections.
Emphasising organisational unity and disciplined election management, Dewan said the Congress leadership was focused on selecting candidates with a clean image, strong public support and active engagement with local issues.
“Our aim is to strengthen the organisation at every level and work collectively for a decisive victory. We are coordinating closely with local Congress workers and office-bearers to build a strong and united campaign in every ward,” he said.
Among those present at the meeting were former MLA Jagtar Singh Jagga, senior Congress leader Purushottam Khalifa, Block President (Jagraon City) Harpreet Singh, Block President (Jagraon Rural) Navdeep Singh, former Municipal Council president Jitendra Pal Rana and several other local leaders and office-bearers.
