Fatehgarh Sahib, September 25, 2020: A complete bandh was observed on the call of farmer’s organization to protest against the farm Bills in the district today. Shops were closed and traffic remained suspended. A massive dharna in support of the farmers and against the farm Bills was organized by Congress MLA Kuljit Singh Nagra at GT Road Sirhind.
SAD (B) organized a dharna at Madhopur Chowk, while AAP organised it at New Grain Market and the District Bar Association at Fatehgarh Sahib. Various kissan unions blocked roads not allowing any vehicle to pass.
Similarly, Amloh constituency Congress MLA Kaka Randeep Singh, SAD(B) led by Gurpreet Singh Raju Khanna organized dharnas in Amloh and Mandi Gobindgarh towns, respectively. Shops remain closed and factories also observed strike.
In Bassi Pathana constituency, Congress workers led by MLA Gurpreet Singh GP held dharnas at Bassi Pathana, Khamano and Chunni, while SAD (B) workers led by Darbara Singh Guru and Jagdeep Singh Cheema and AAP workers also joined the dharnas.
Various trade organizations, District Bar Association, District Beopar Mandal, Arthyia Association, Rice Miller’s Association, Truck Unions and college students had already extended their support to farmers and joined dharnas.
Kuljit SIngh Nagra addressing a Congress Party dharna
Addressing a massive gathering, Nagra, who resigned in protest against the farm Bills, said the farm Bills were anti-farmers, traders, workers and commission agents.
He said that he has resigned on moral grounds as being a son of farmer he was deeply hurt. He said he is ready to make any sacrifice for the cause of the farmers.
Lashing out at SAD (B) he said after party workers revolted against Sukhbir Badal, he took the decision to ask his wife Harsimrat Kaur resign from the Union Cabinet and now the party is calling it a sacrifice. He said SAD (B) can’t befool people who know they are still part of NDA.

Hundreds of party workers attended the dharna and raised slogans against union and state government.
He said CM Capt. Amarinder Singh is responsible for this state of Affairs as Congress party had already included these laws in its manifesto.
He said now they are trying to become smart by supporting farmers. He said SAD (B) always fought for the cause of farmers, labourers, employees and traders.
“SAD (B) is ready to make any sacrifice and Harsimrat Kaur resigned from Union Govt. for the cause of farmers,” he said.
AAP organized dharna at New Grain Market Sirhind. Party workers led by Gurwinder Singh Dhillon, former District President, Pardeep Malhotra, Narinder Tiwana, Ajay Libra and others addressed the gathering and lashed out at Congress and SAD (B).
The workers of SAD (A) led by Simranjit Singh Mann and leaders of various Kissan Unions held a protest march and submitted a memorandum to Tehsildar. The party workers joined the dharnas being organized by Kissan Unions.
Lawyers led by Virk Advocate, President of the District Bar organized a protest Dharna at Fatehgarh Sahib and lashed out at the Union Government for passing anti-farmer laws. The District Bar extended support to striking farmers.
