Mumbai/Chandigarh, July 5, 2026: In a surprising development for the entertainment industry, global star Diljit Dosanjh's much-awaited film 'Satluj' has been removed from the OTT platform Zee5 just two days after its release. The film premiered on Zee5 on July 3, and its sudden withdrawal has triggered widespread discussion among movie lovers and the film fraternity.

The film was originally slated for release under the title 'Punjab 95' and is based on the life of noted human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra. Following prolonged controversy, the title was changed to 'Satluj' before its release.
Zee5 Issues Statement
After removing the film, Zee5 issued an official statement on its X (formerly Twitter) handle.
The platform wrote:
"Satluj may have paused. But the conversation it started hasn't. Thank you for the incredible love. We hope to bring it back soon."
In a detailed statement, Zee5 expressed gratitude for the overwhelming response received by the film and thanked viewers for their love and support. The platform said it stands firmly with the makers and the creative vision behind Satluj, adding that meaningful storytelling has the power to inspire, endure and leave a lasting impact.
Zee5 further stated that, in light of the current developments, the film has been made unavailable on the platform until further notice. It said it is exploring every appropriate legal and procedural avenue to bring the film back to audiences at the earliest.
The company also reiterated that its commitment to creative freedom, artistic integrity and purpose-driven storytelling remains unwavering.
However, Zee5 has not disclosed the specific reasons behind the film's removal. The absence of an official explanation has fuelled speculation and intense discussion on social media and within the film industry.
