SBS Nagar: Nine Census officials honoured for achieving 100 % coverage ahead of deadline

SBS Nagar (Punjab), June 3, 2026: SBS Nagar Deputy Commissioner Gulpreet Singh Aulakh on Wednesday felicitated nine census officials for achieving 100 per cent coverage in their respective areas ahead of schedule during Phase-I of the Census 2027 exercise.
The officials were honoured with appreciation letters in recognition of their exemplary performance, dedication and commitment to one of the country's largest data collection programmes.
The Deputy Commissioner noted that the awardees not only completed the census work within the stipulated timeframe but also exceeded their assigned targets by covering a larger population than initially allocated.
The officials honoured included seven enumerators — Vijay Kumar, Ranjana Kumari, Nirmaldeep Singh, Sunita Rani, Varinder Suman, Birpal Kaur and Kamaljit Kaur — along with supervisors Pardeep Kumar and Amritpal Singh.
Commending their efforts, Aulakh said the officials had set a benchmark in public service through their efficiency and professionalism. He expressed hope that their achievement would inspire other personnel engaged in the census operation to perform their duties with similar commitment.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that Phase-I of Census 2027 is currently underway across the district, with 1,158 officials deployed for door-to-door data collection from May 15 to June 13, 2026.
Urging residents to cooperate with census teams, he appealed to the public to provide accurate information during the survey. He emphasised that reliable census data is crucial for evidence-based policymaking and helps governments design development programmes that effectively address citizens' needs.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Sanjiv Sharma, Census Incharge Sukhwinder Singh and other officials were present on the occasion.
The honoured officials expressed gratitude for the recognition, saying the appreciation would further motivate them to carry out their responsibilities with greater dedication and efficiency.
