Chandigarh records highest single-day COVID cases – 1834 cases and 2 deaths

Chandigarh, January 14, 2022:
Chandigarh reported 1834 new COVID-19 positive cases on Friday. Two deaths due to COVID were also reported in the last 24 hours.
As per the information released by the health department, UT Chandigarh, the total number of active cases in Chandigarh stands at 7257.
In the last 24 hours, the department has tested 7275 samples. As per the figure, 1086 deaths have been reported in Chandigarh due to COVID-19 to date.
Likewise, the total number of patients who have tested positive to date stands at 74475.

Discharged Patients:-
Today 391 patients have been discharged including persons from home isolation who have completed 7 days and are asymptomatic, as per MoHFW guidelines.
COVID Deaths:-
- A 44 year old male who was staying near Raen Basera, transport area Sector 26 was brought dead at GMSH sector 16. He was tested positive for COVID posthumously. He was a known case of diabetes mellitus and chronic kidney disease. He was a chronic alcoholic and was not vaccinated for COVID.
- A 50 year old female resident of Sector 32 was brought dead at GMCH 32. She was tested positive for COVID posthumously. She was a known case of hypertension. She was fully vaccinated for COVID.
