Mohali, February 14, 2021:
Paramjeet Singh Kahlon, a candidate of the Azad group led by former mayor Kulwant Singh, has lodged a complaint to the state election commission (SEC) today against his congress opponent Amarjeet Singh Jeeti Sidhu and demanded repolling in ward no 10.
Kahlon, who was contesting the elections from ward number 10 levelled allegations against the health minister Balbir Singh Sidhu and the police for forcefully evicted his election agents from booth number 32 and 33. He stated in his complaint that a few workers of Congressmen illegally captured the booth in Phase 7. He demanded re-polling in his ward from the SEC. He alleged that the senior police officials pressurised their polling agents and sent them out of the polling booth forcefully.
He said, “Balbir Singh Sidhu visited the polling booth to cast his vote and later on again came inside the booth with his full security staff and family members who were accompanied by Mohali DSP Gursher Singh Sandhu to exert undue political and administrative pressure on the polling staff and my polling agents.”
Meanwhile, Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu said that the members of the Azad group were frustrated with the fear of defeat even before the election results and were making false and baseless allegations. He said that Kahlon had brought around 47 minor girls living in Guru Asra Trust to the booth in the afternoon to cast fake votes despite the trust has been shifted from here almost three years ago. He said when they informed police, Kahlon started levelling false allegations against them. He also said that all the residents were praising the Mohali administration for peacefully conducting the municipal elections but these people were still engaged in slanderous game.
